Our B2B Ecosystem

While we’re known for our traveler brands like Expedia.com and Hotels.com, we also provide travel technology for businesses through our lodging API, white label template, and travel advisor booking tool.

This B2B system is made up of nearly 60,000 businesses – from travel agencies, to airlines, financial institutions and more. These businesses have their own strong brand recognition and customer loyalty programs that address hard-to-reach, high value audiences. For our hotel partners, this ecosystem of travel businesses creates a unique opportunity to reach hundreds of millions of high-quality travelers outside of a direct-to-traveler environment, which can help generate significant incremental revenue.

Compared to our B2C brands, our B2B ecosystem has over twice the global reach (Expedia Group data, June 2021 – May 2022).

Competitive distribution rates is key to driving business

This is because a higher discount positions Best Western inventory more favourably in multi-supply B2B environments – our B2B partners are incentivised to book these higher discounted rates as they also earn more from our sharing of the margin back with them. For EPS bookings, the discount applied to the Leisure Program (LP) rate series acts as the total margin paid to Expedia, Inc., and there is no additional commission.

Our B2B distribution partners typically see higher average daily rates (ADR), as well as longer lengths of stay (LOS) and longer average booking windows (ABW) (Expedia Group internal data, April 2021).

How to optimize your B2B set-up in a few easy steps

A quick guide is available here.

Rate loading

Ensure your rooms are assigned LP B2B rates in Expedia Group Partner Central.

What rates should I see?
  1. LP1, LP1B – 10% discount
  2. LP2, LP2B – 20% discount
  3. LP3, LP3B – 25% discount
Note: LP1B, LP2B, LP3B are rate plan codes that support meals. If you do not have a restaurant and include breakfast with the room by default, this does not apply to you.

Availability

Review which LP rate plans are available against each room type, and keep these rate plans open.

Pricing

LP1 should be loaded with a 10% discount, LP2 should be loaded with a 20% discount and LP3 should be loaded with a 25% discount. Once the rate plans are loaded, check that your LP rate plans’ sell price match your EC1 rate plan sell price, and have the same promotions (including value adds) and restrictions (e.g. cancellation policies, advance purchase and length of stay restrictions).

  1. Partner CentralRooms & RatesRates & AvailabilityDistribution (D) rate plans (under customize view)
  2. You can use the Rates & Availability section on Partner Central to compare sell rates across all rate plans to determine whether the B2B equivalent rates are mapped, priced correctly, and have the same restrictions as your Standalone rates. You can also check your sell price before promotion in this section.
Note: The price shown on Partner Central is the net rate we receive from your connectivity, and the discount is added on top of this rate. The sell price, inclusive of any promotions, won’t be displayed on this grid.

Reservations

Ensure the LP rate codes are added and mapped into your PMS system.

How will rates show up?
Bookings from Expedia Partner Solutions will appear in your PMS under a CID named Expedia Partner Solutions.

Review performance

To further elevate your B2B strategy, you can also analyze performance results and booking trends using the Partner Reporting Suite on Partner Central.
